Our field trip to Old Sturbridge Village was a huge success. All of the children had the opportunity to explore the village and to participate in a small group educational activity. The children represented our school well with excellent behavior and attentive manners. The only drawback was that there wasn't enough time to see everything! The children enjoyed Colonial Day. Throughout the day, the children were engaged in a variety of activities. They made butter while singing a working song, wrote with quill pens, stenciled, made sachets and a paper quilt square, played Nine Man Morris, and went outside to learn a variety of colonial games. It was nice to see so many of you for VIP Day. Thanks for joining us and for making the day so special. We've continued to work hard. During reading, the children read about the water cycle and took notes. They also did some reading about the Dust Bowl to build background for the story Leah's Pony. The children worked hard on their end-of-the-year opinion writing prompts. We've started to review expository writing. This week, we'll be working on a piece about severe weather.
