I am happy to report that standardized testing is DONE for the year.
Your child wrapped up his/her last round of NWEA testing, and all of the students in our class have completed the Smarter Balanced testing as well.
Everyone worked so hard. You would have been proud to see the children's focus and effort.
We finished our unit on quadrilaterals. We also completed a brief unit on telling time. The unit included telling time to the nearest minute and solving simple elapsed time problems.
At home, please have your child continue to practice math facts for a few minutes each day. Practicing time now and then on an analog clock would also be useful.
Currently we are working on a graphing unit. (I don't have photos yet. We just started today.😊)
We are currently reading and discussing a chapter book as a class and are also learning about figurative language. We will work on this for a couple of weeks and end the year with poetry and simple dramas. We'll be comparing and contrasting the different types of writing.
Speaking of writing, students are just starting to plan and write concrete poems. Photos will be posted before the end of the year.
In social studies, we are still learning about Connecticut. Soon, we'll start to learn about colonial times.
Thanks for stopping in to read about what we've been doing.
I'll be posting at least once more before the end of the year!
