Find Out Why Leaves Change Color
Parent/teacher conferences are coming up on Thursday, October 23rd and Friday, October 24th. A note went home in Friday folders with an assigned conference day and time. Please read the letter and return the bottom portion to school as soon as you can. Thank you! We've finished reading mysteries in small groups. To wrap up our mystery unit, the children practiced their persuasive writing skills by writing book recommendations. They needed to state whether or not they would recommend their books. Then, they needed to support their opinions with specific reasons and details from the text. Rough drafts were sent home. The final copies, which are written on magnifying glasses, will be displayed in our classroom. We are continuing to work on rounding this week. We've also learned how to use rounding to estimate. These are concepts that can be difficult, so we'll be spending a bit more time on these skills. In science, we've been reading about why leaves change color. Below are links to a couple of videos that you can watch at home if you would like more information. Please note that the videos are on You Tube, so I am not suggesting that your child watch them without you.
